Microsoft Making ‘One Outlook’

Microsoft is working on Outlook on a simpler level for PCs and Macs. This development is codenamed Project Monarch, and was shared back in 2020.

According to Zac Bowden from WindowsLatest, “Microsoft wants to replace the existing desktop clients with one app built with web technologies. The project will deliver Outlook as a single product, with the same user experience and codebase whether that be on Windows or Mac. It’ll also have a much smaller footprint and be accessible to all users whether they’re free Outlook consumers or commercial business customers.”

The Outlook clients that will be rolled into One Outlook are:

  • Outlook (Win 32)
  • Outlook for Mac
  • Outlook Web
  • Windows 10 Calendar and Mail

It’s stated that One Outlook could be out by the end of 2021, with the Calendar and Mail portion of the client released in 2022.
